Working with Government

WWF Northern Ireland is campaigning for a sustainable country through sustainable government.

Stormont, Belfast

Decisions of government have lasting and important impacts on the environment. The devolved Northern Ireland Assembly and government (Executive) has powers to introduce new laws to safeguard our water environment, nature conservation, planning and many other important environmental issues. Legislation being developed currently includes new Northern Irish laws on managing flooding and protecting our marine environment. WWF Northern Ireland works with other organisations, Government and Parliament to inform the development of these Bills.

WWF is at the forefront of campaigning to change legislation and policy to protect our environment here in the UK and worldwide. In Northern Ireland we work closely with organisations in the environmental network Northern Ireland Environment LINK and the diverse coalition Stop Climate Chaos Northern Ireland on issues such as flooding and climate change.
